Description

A selection in the Azalea Series from Todd Dodd, 'Nathan Bedford Forrest' features stunning, large, globe-shaped clusters of fragrant, ruffled, golden-orange flowers that glow in the garden. The deciduous Rhododendrons in the Confederate Series were bred for superior heat and humidity tolerance but will also handle temps down to -20 degrees F. An intermediate grower to 6 feet or so tall and wide.

  • Light Requirement - Part Sun
  • Hardy in Zones : 6 to 9
  • Mature size is 4 to 6 ft tall and 6 to 8 ft wide
  • Specialty - Nathan Bedford Forrest has large ruffled orange flowers that bloom in spring as new growth emerges and dark green foliage that turns orange-bronze in fall. Best grown in part sun and rich, moist, acidic well-drained soils. Both powdery mildew resistant and heat tolerant.
  • Scientific Name - Rhododendron 'Nathan Bedford Forrest'

Note: The plant is shipped in its pot, firmly secured with several layers of clear tape, thereby avoiding any shuffling and moving during transit. The plant reaches you with minimal damage- very safe and secure. We have been shipping plants like this for several years (plant are sometimes shipped in smaller pots for safety and ease of shipping). Most plants go dormant in fall and winter and will lose most of their leaves - looking dead and dry - very normal. They will flush out in spring.

We cannot send ship some plants and some sizes to California due to restrictions placed by department of agriculture.
